REALLY, HOT-HUED-HAIR?
Everybody is always asking us: what is the latest in hair (or what we affectionately call, hair du jour)? For the last few fashion seasons natural styles have prevailed, but suddenly a blast of colour has appeared on the spring 2012 runways- Thakoon and Narcisco Rodriguez both showed lite-brite hair. Ahead of the curve,Tony Masciangelo, showed sea-foam green in the September 2011 issue of Flare, above. So, we ask: thumbs up or down?
Oh, it is always more complicated than that. One needs to be cautious when chasing hair trends. Hey, were not saying you should be a wall flower your whole life to avoid regret, just choose wisely. In regards to bold colour, we think it it looks best after the sun sets, think: Bellinis on King Street. We advocate for temporary colour over permanent dyes; teal hair doesn’t always work at a job interview. We love KEVIN.MURPY COLOR.BUG because it washes away and delivers striking results.
To make this latest runway sensation the real way, we suggest a basic round brush blow-out to start. Next, apply colour pad to completely dried hair from mid-shaft to ends. Lastly, brush out product to create an electric-ombre-effect. CAUTION: do worry about perspiring and the rain, temporary products will run; avoid white, and maybe bring a clip for a quick updo if you encounter moisture. These hair hues are for having fun, be confident and take lots of pictures on your night out!
Final thought: keep it soft. Subtly is the modern twist on this 80’s punk-style revival. Just a hint of iridescent can go a long way.
