FLARE JUNE 2011
“Just Add Water” is the chicest of bathing suit stories in the June issue of Flare. The glam factor is definitely ratcheted up with luxury hair by our very own Tony M. Let us be inspired that healthy long hair is a great way to off set a casual summer look.
So, what is the background on this story?
TONY: We shot this last December in the most beautiful St. Vincent in December. Mr. Max Abadian was the photographer and Flare Fashion Editor, Liz Cabral styled. Model, Gracie Carvalho struck the pose.
The featured Picture is your favourite shot from this story. Why?
TONY: The wind is perfect and she looks as carefree as possible. There is always one shot that has that “je ne sais quoi” quality- where you think,YES, that’s it!
What’s going on with the hair? This is extensions, isn’t it?
TONY: Full extensions. Tons and tons. For me, the colour of the extensions made this look perfect; nothing worse when they clash with skin tone or hair colour. Experience has taught me to request a model’s book before a location shoot.
And what about makeup?
TONY: its all about Glow in the Grenadines. Think the queen of glow - j.lo. Shimmer, shimmer, shimmer! If you are going out for a nice dinner on your island holiday, go light on your face with colour; maybe a tinted lip gloss. Spend more time moisturizing your body with coca butter; its such a great way to heal sunned skin.
Who is this look going to work for best?
TONY: This look is all about long and thick. It is unfortunately limited to those of those lucky enough to have mountains of hair or patient enough for extensions. On the matter of extensions I really am on the fence: the only time I thinks it works is if you really have the time to care for it. You need to be honest with yourself if you are going to have the patience to take half an hour to comb out your hair after shampooing. Just sayin’ .
Any island memories you’d care to share?
TONY: Ultimate professional experience to work with model Gracie Carvalho and, of course, the “amazeballs” coconut bread!
